Workflow

From blank board to first beat in about ten minutes.

1. Record a sample

Press and hold REC, tap a step button (1–8 for drum slots, 9–16 for melodic slots on Ravine: Phoenix — these ranges are swapped vs. a stock PO-33; see ADR-0002), and the firmware starts capturing mic input into that slot's PSRAM region. Release REC to stop.

po33> rec 0 # records into slot 0 (drum)
po33> stoprec # stops; sample is finalized in PSRAM

2. Trim and slice

Each slot has a start and end point. Select the slot with SOUND + a step pad, then move the start/end markers in Tweak Trim mode (tap FX until it reads TRIM, then Knob A = start, Knob B = end), or send raw commands over UART. (SOUND + step selects a slot; it does not move the trim markers.)

Drum loops can be auto-sliced into 16 equal parts; melodic slots play as a single sample with chromatic pitch shifting.

3. Sequence

Press WRITE to enter write mode, select a sound (SOUND + step), then press step pads to place it on those steps. Press PLAY to start the sequencer. The 2.4″ TFT shows the playhead.

po33> bpm 140
po33> pattern 0
po33> play
po33> status
seq: playing bpm=140 step=4 pattern=0

4. Apply punch-in FX

Hold FX, then press one of the 15 effect pads (pad 16 = "no effect"). The active effect name shows on the TFT. Some highlights:

5. Save patterns + samples

Patterns are saved to flash via the LittleFS partition. Samples stay in PSRAM and reload after a reboot.

po33> save # writes patterns + per-slot sample blobs
po33> load # reloads from flash

6. Sync & chain

Pulse OUT fires on every 16th note for syncing with other Pocket Operators or analog gear. Use the shell to chain patterns into full songs (up to 128 patterns in sequence).
